That every member of our school community can...
Our vision statement is underpinned by the following passage from the Bible:
"As dearly loved children, live a life of love, just as Christ loved us."
Ephesians 5:1-2
We celebrate and enact this vision through our values of Trust, Kindness, Responsibility, Forgiveness, Friendship
and Respect.
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They are embedded in our relationships and communication, our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be confident and happy citizens.
The Church of England’s Vision for Education is underpinned by the Bible verse John 10:10: “I have come in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness.” The vision is further broken down into the following aims:
Educating for wisdom, knowledge and skills: enabling discipline, confidence and delight in seeking wisdom and knowledge, and developing talents in all areas of life.
Educating for hope and aspiration: enabling healing, repair and renewal, coping wisely when things go wrong, opening horizons and guiding people into ways of fulfilling them.
Educating for community and living well together: a core focus on relationships, participation in communities and the qualities of character that enable people to flourish together.
Educating for dignity and respect: the basic principle of respect for the value and preciousness of each person, treating each person as a unique individual of inherent worth.
We have a strong collaboration with St Leonard’s Church and are fortunate to have two of their Leadership Team sit on our Governing Body. Miss Ruth Clarke (Children & Families Minister) is our Chair of Governors and Mr Chris Keane (Associate Rector) is a Foundation Governor. They are fully involved in the life of the school from delivering Collective Worship to the teaching of RE.
Our daily act of Collective Worship is Inclusive, Invitational and Inspiring and we have key points in the year where we worship at the Church, such as Christmas and Easter. We also celebrate life’s milestones like completing your first nativity and moving on to secondary school. Please take a look at our Collective Worship Policy:
In line with our Christian values, we are an inclusive school and we welcome equally those of Christian faith, those of other faiths and those of no faith. We also teach the British Values, which are: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs. Each British Value is linked to a School Value, so that they are all meaningful for the children. Children are taught explicitly about the meaning of spirituality and how people enagage with this differently. Please see the document below for further information on the information we share with our children on this subject.
